Why Choose Organic: Organic VS Conventional Produce

Aug 10, 2017 @ Project Juice

At Project Juice, we prioritize choosing organic – because it’s better for you and what’s best for you, is best for us! We source high-quality certified organic produce from local farms (local when possible) and we take the extra steps to be sure that when we say you are drinking the purest juice and eating the cleanest food on the planet, we aren’t lying!

There’s been a lot of debate on whether organic truly is better than conventional produce so we’re here to settle the score once and for all. Here’s why we choose organic and why you should too.

1. Organic produce is free from toxic pesticides and chemicals.

It is widely known and accepted that conventional produce contains pesticides, chemical fertilizers, industrial solvents, or genetic engineering which have potentially harmful or yet unknown effects on your health and the health of our planet.

Isn’t that scary? When you choose conventional produce, you aren’t putting the best fuel into your body and you’re hurting the planet in the process. Even if you wash your produce, you can’t wash off 100% of the pesticides because much of it is absorbed through the roots and is in the produce’s tissue.

We know that choosing organic is not always an option. Use these lists to know which produce you should always buy organic: Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen.

2. Organic farming encourages biodiversity.

Because organic farming practices use fewer pesticides and inorganic fertilizers, it encourages a wild-life friendly management approach where natural habitats are not destroyed and pests are reduced on their own.

Research has shown that organic farming is better for wildlife, creates less pollution from sprays and produces less of the global warming gas, carbon dioxide.

3. Organic produce has higher standards.

Organic food comes from trusted sources. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year. Higher standards means higher quality produce!

Choosing organic is better for your body AND it’s better for the planet! There are a lot of companies out there that try to mislead you and say they source organic produce but the only way to truly know is to look out for the USDA Certified Organic Symbol. Help the planet and choose organic!
