We Asked Nutritionists, “What Inspires You To Make Healthy Food Choices?”

Mar 01, 2017 @ Project Juice

March is officially #NutritionMonth which means there is no better time than now to be your most nutritious self. We’re challenging YOU to #eatclean ALL. MONTH. LONG! Celebrate with us throughout March as we share tips, recipes, and nutrition inspiration.

To kick-off nutrition month and set the tone of major nutrition inspo, we asked our favorite nutritionists one simple question, “What inspires you to make healthy food choices?”

Cravings, indulgent holidays, and sometimes life in general can be a minor bump on the journey to your own health and wellness goals. It’s important to remember that one bad meal doesn’t mean you’re a failure. In those times of weakness when you want to be strong, just think of what inspires these nutritionists to make healthy food choices!

What inspires you to make healthy food choices?

“I came to a realization a few years ago that I never wanted to be ‘healthy’ because I had to, but because I wanted to. That was a very large paradigm shift in my perception and changed my outlook on health forever. If I want to eat a slice of pizza, have a Coke or French Fries I will, I do not deny myself these pleasures at this point because I deeply trust my judgement and motives. However, the urges for this type of eating has decreased dramatically to almost never because I get such pleasure out of feeling great, keeping Crohn’s Disease in complete remission, and being clear minded. After years of eating poorly, I simply associate more pleasure with real, fulfilling foods. That came from faith, determination and patience.”

“What inspires me is the way I feel when I nourish my body by eating a diet rich in nutrient dense foods. I’ve had on-going health issues for about 5 years and I’ve constantly been tweaking my nutrition to fit my health needs. I know gluten is a trigger for my autoimmune disease, so I avoid it like the plague. I also know that eating organic, properly sourced and cooked foods helps me feel my best. When I stray, I definitely feel it. Plus my skin, hair and nails look the best they have in years, so that’s a plus!

“Wanting to simply feel my best to enjoy this wonderful life! I’ve always felt very in tune with my body. When I’m not making healthy choices I feel it in every capacity. The majority of us are not listening to our bodies, but instead honing in on cravings that ultimately lead to poor food choices. It’s never bad to indulge. In life we sometimes just need a break, but we need to be vigilant that we are obtaining the full spectrum of nutrients prior to that something sweet!”

“The assurance that I am taking care of my body now and also for the future inspires me. Knowing that I am fueling my body with the best fuel so that I can work, play, perform, and live life to the fullest is one of the biggest reasons I am inspired to consistently make healthy food choices. The choices have become so engrained in my day to day life, that they are no longer a forced choice, but a natural habit.
