The spices in this hot chai naturally warm your body and even boosts your immunity, digestion, and metabolism. Where health is concerned, we like to go above and beyond, so we’ve added some of our favorite superfoods into the mix...starting with hemp seeds!
The second (optional) superfood is lucuma powder. This powder has natural sweetness, fiber, iron, and is even a vegetarian source of niacin, which aids in many bodily functions including stress regulation.
Pair with healing spices like turmeric to reduce bloat and inflammation, and naturally sweeten with low-glycemic coconut sugar, this creamy hot chai is sure to keep you warm while keeping your health goals in mind!
Superfood DIY HOT Chai
Total Prep and Cook Time: 5 Minutes
Serving Size: 2
3 cups unsweetened almond milk
2 tablespoons coconut sugar
2 tablespoons lucuma powder (optional)
1 tablespoons hemp seeds
1 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
A pinch of black pepper
In a blender, puree the almond milk, coconut sugar, lucuma powder, hemp seeds, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and black pepper until combined. Pour into a saucepan and heat gently over medium-low heat. Divide into mugs and enjoy!
