Shopping for Fall Seasonal Food

Dec 01, 2016 @ Project Juice

Falling leaves, sweater weather, and pumpkin-spiced everything aren’t the only things to look forward to in the fall…there’s also fall’s seasonal produce, too!

Don’t be fooled by the cooler weather, winter doesn’t actually begin until late December, so there’s still plenty of time to enjoy all that this season has to offer.

Why eat seasonally? Eating seasonally helps your body cope with weather changes and ensures the freshest (and tastiest) produce available. Fall introduces heartier vegetables like cabbage and squash and thicker-skinned citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruit.

Eating and buying locally-sourced items when available helps support local farmers AND you can even save a pretty penny when it comes to food costs.

We’ve put together a list of fall seasonal food to inspire your next home-cooked meal – like this Roasted Veggie Harvest Bowl. Whether you’re substituting a seasonal vegetable in your favorite recipe or choosing delicious fruits to throw into your blender (like this detoxifying green smoothie featuring fresh pineapple), it’s not too late to enjoy this season’s best!
