Can you freeze smoothies for later? The answer is, yes! While fresh smoothies are always the best, it is possible to freeze multiple batches of smoothies and enjoy them throughout the week. It’s one of our favorite meal prep hacks!
Here are some things to remember:
1. LEAVE THE ICE OUT
When making your big batch of smoothies, leave the ice out of your recipe if it’s only purpose is to make your smoothie cold. When thawing, the ice will water down the flavor.
2. ENJOY QUICKLY
Plan to enjoy your smoothie batch within a week or two. Planning to enjoy quickly will also prevent freezer burn.
3. LEAVE ROOM AT THE TOP
Pour your smoothie carefully into your airtight containers and leave an inch or two of space at the top. This is important because the frozen smoothie will need room to expand when thawing.
4. PLAN AHEAD
If you want to enjoy your smoothie first thing in the morning, plan ahead and put it in the refrigerator over night so it can thaw.
