3 Steps To Prepare For Your Next Juice Cleanse

So you’re finally ready to take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle and have decided to do a juice cleanse. Congrats!

Juice cleansing offers a ton of health benefits like weight loss, better digestion, and an increase in energy. But no matter which of these goals you’re looking to achieve, remember this: adequately preparing for a juice cleanse is the key to success.

How to Prepare for a Juice Cleanse

We find that three days is a good length of time to mentally and physically prepare yourself for a great juice cleanse. Alternatively visit our How to Cleanse page for a breakdown of the suggested number of ‘prep days’ based on your current dietary lifestyle.

With our pre-cleanse program, you’ll focus on hydrating your body, cleaning up your diet, and setting your personal goals! Minimize potential challenges and maximize health benefits in three steps:

Like anything, change requires a clear intention and a well-thought-out idea of the personal motivations that inspire you to achieve your goals and help guide you to success if you feel at any point of giving up during your juice cleanse.

If those intentions seem a bit muddled, take about 15 minutes of quiet time to identify what you want to achieve from your next juice cleanse.

There’s no right or wrong on this one, so come up with a mantra that works for you!

Drinking plenty of water before a juice cleanse (and equally during it!) makes it easier for your cleansing organs to filter out impurities and toxins.

Try drinking a large glass of water with a squeeze of organic lemon in the days before your juice cleanse. The citric acid in lemon will help stimulate digestion and alkalize your pH levels.

In the days leading up to your juice cleanse, it’s important to ease off of unhealthy foods that have appeared in your diet. Pay attention to the food labels on the foods you are consuming!

Though it may be hard to pass on that Happy Hour cocktail, what you include in your pre juice cleanse diet is as important as what you exclude.

Eliminate potential allergens and acidic foods from your pre juice cleanse diet like:

  • Alcohol
  • Added, refined sugars
  • Processed foods
  • Dairy
  • Red meats
  • Gluten

A quick note for all you coffee drinkers…

Its okay to keep limited amounts of caffeine in your pre cleanse diet. If you are a regular coffee drinker, DO look for low-acid options that won’t interfere with your cleanse like organic green tea and organic cold-brew coffee.

However, if one of your juice cleanse goals is to eliminate caffeine, we suggest cutting your consumption of caffeine in half each day leading up to your cleanse to ease potential withdrawal symptoms.

As part of your pre juice cleanse menu, try a healthy breakfast smoothie (like this Energizing Green Tea Matcha Smoothie), a salad for lunch, and a light dinner – think lean proteins.

Eating healthy takes time and can be hard to fit into a busy schedule – we get it. As a simple solution, try repeating small variations of this combo for three consecutive days leading into your cleanse to take some of the creative struggle out of the process.
